
Center Objectives
The BTC will meet the growing workforce needs of area
manufacturers by providing:
• A state-of-the-art credit and non-credit training, and education
center for the development of current and future manufacturing
workforce; including School-to-work opportunities for area wide
school districtS Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing
Technology programs currently offered through EICCD, and
short-term training and retraining for district wide industry
customers through EICCD's Business and Industry Center.
• Conference and meeting facilities for district partners; including
ICN capabilities, Internet and computer assisted instructional
delivery options.
• Vendor training location allowing
suppliers to deliver training
on new products and systems keeping local industry customers
current in product development.
• A center of excellence in Manufacturing, allowing the Center to
link with regional, state, and national professional organizations
as well as with the three Iowa Regent Institutions.
• Task Analysis/Career Profiling Center focusing on the skill set
definition/job analysis and validation for occupations relating
to manufacturing.
• An ACT Regional Testing Center serving regional customers by
meeting most of professional and academic testing needs. |

MISSION
The John T. Blong Technology Center, part of the Eastern
Iowa Community College supports the economic future
and vitality of Eastern Iowa manufacturers through human
resource, technology, and industry strategic objective
development:
* By serving as a one-stop manufacturing training center.
* By serving as a facilitator and catalyst for change.
* By serving as an environmental industry scanner and
forecaster.
* By promoting a culture of continuous improvement
throughout the industry.
