According to Economy.com, the Davenport metro area has the most diverse industrial base among all the MSA's in Iowa.  The distribution of industries in the Davenport MSA is close to that of the U.S., while average annual earnings in these industries are significantly below that of the U.S. and neighboring Illinois, making it an attractive location for businesses.  Diversity in the industrial base helps because businesses are more likely to find suppliers and customers within a small geographical area, which cuts down logistics costs.
